Midwives take time to listen to you. Midwives believe that childbearing is normal and that you and your family should create the birth experience that will be meaningful to you.

Prenatal visits are made at the Birth Center. Home visits can be requested and are made on an as needed basis. During these visits the health of the mother and fetus are assessed. This is done by discussing any concerns the mother may have and asking her how she has been feeling. This is followed by examination of the mother’s vital signs and urinalysis and necessary blood work at the appropriate times. The health of the baby is assessed by determining appropriate growth, heart rate and reactivity of the fetus’ heart rate and movements. The position of the baby and weight estimation is also determined. These appointments are good opportunities to learn about how your baby is laying in your womb and we can help you identify the little parts that you feel every day. Visits are made every 3 weeks until the eighth month and then we see you twice, after that you will have a visit every week until the birth of your baby.
Postpartum visits are made at your home for the first five days and again at 10 days and two weeks. Well baby care continues, with a week 4 and week 6 visit. A well woman examination including a pap test is proved between 8 and 12 weeks postpartum. At the last visit, we can also provide you with a form of contraception called a FemCap.

babies in their own homes and this number is growing. Those who do, claim that their
experience of birth was extremely satisfying and empowering. Homebirth is an excellent choice
for the majority of women. Homebirth, or birth in a freestanding birth center,
